Coaching: a whole life attitude

A guided process by specialists allows all the work equipment to develop their potential and productivity

Have you heard about coaching? May be yes, and maybe you may thik it is a new “fashion” of modern administration.

In this opportunity I want to tell you what´s about, and how it´s also an excellent tool for organizational development, is a life style.

However, if you´re the type of person who likes and also needs definitions here comes some:

Coaching may be understood as a personalized accompaniment process in which the coach acts as “resonance board” of his client (coachee), to whom he helps identifiying his own potentialities and take best advantage of them for his own and others involved benefit:  organization, his boss, fellow workers and his family.

It also implies helping people to achieve with efficacy their goals at diverse levels, covering the emptiness existing between what they are and what they desire to be.

It is also a model that uses a structured and effective methodology through methodic approximations that allows work in performance improvement and people´s potential development.

In fact, it is widely used by organizations that count with competences model.

About the required abilities to be an effective coach, first and very important, we must clear that to give, we need to have, and that´s how a coach must initially work in himself, his professional growing and consciousness level expansion.

In this sense, an effective coach practices active hearing and listen more than talks, asks  powerful questions to his client to get him out of his comfort zone, promoting “to realize that” and encourages him to assume important challenges that leads to change.

Some coach´s contributions to the organization are: employee´s potential development, perform increase, motivation increase, self esteem reinforcement and improvement in relationships between directives and collaborators.

Integral process

In coaching, corporeality plays a definitive role in the process (non verbal language of both parts) as in coach´s training (recognizing how his body is an active part of this giving and understanding the other)

Also, a coach is always attentive, not only to verbal expressions of his coachee but to what he doesn´t express with words.

Under this scene, emotional intelligence is a main part of coaching and the coach must know how to recognize own and his client´s emotions, accept them and use them in the most appropriate way to obtain a positive result in the interaction.

That is why the effective and committed coach, honors a personal and association or group to which he belongs, ethic´s code.

Complementary in a coaching process reigns respect, confidence and confidenciality because both remember are at the same level: no one is or knows more than the other.

In this relationship both parts learn and is the coach who leads the session to the destiny shown by his coachee, in an interaction that we coul call spiral. Because may be you can arrive to the same starting point but with a new consciousness level.

Finally it´s importat to highlight a definitive word for a coaching process: intuition. The reason? Even if we know too much theory, trainings and coach practices, methologies and rules that we know by memory, an effective coach shall always be proud of cultivating a high, practical as life, intuition level.

In this way, coaching is not only a fashion affair but a life style, an attitude that demands giving the best from you to favor that other person that´s in front, waiting to start his auto recognition journey in the company of a guide who has already traveled that path.
